Wikipedia describes the above subject as follows:- "Coming of age is a young person's transition from childhood to adulthood. The age at which this transition takes place varies in society, as does the nature of the transition.[1] It can be a simple legal convention or can be part of a ritual, as practiced by many societies. In the past, and in some societies today, such a change is associated with the age of sexual maturity (mid-adolescence); in others, it is associated with an age of religious responsibility. Particularly in western societies, modern legal conventions which stipulate points in late adolescence or early adulthood when adolescents are generally no longer considered minors and are granted the full rights of an adult are the focus of the transition. In either case, many cultures retain ceremonies to confirm the coming of age, and significant benefits come with the change.
The term coming of age is also used in reference to different media such as stories, songs, movies that have a young character or characters who, by the end of the story, have developed in some way, through the undertaking of responsibility, or by learning a lesson."
There is a difference between growing up and growing older. Growing older is a physical transformation, growing up is about mental growth. You know much is said negatively about growth within the human race, infact growth of anything is seen more positively than the growth associated with human race. I used to say 25 year olds are ancient, so much so that I think I might have believed that I will never grow that far I will always remain in my young teen years. Well... So much for that, as mother nature will have it, I grew way past that age and found myself blowing my 30th candle.
Strange but I am quite enjoying myself, I exude a certain aura which even I can't comprehend, magical fascination and appreciation of the little things in life. My BFF also updated her Facebook status with wise words so worthy of stealing and though I dont remember it word for word but what stuck to me was that we shouldn't spend so much time engineering our lives. This made me realise that from a very young age we are told to engineer our lives until they reach their potential and some can say engineer until
You reach you maximum fiscal potential. I am sure that most you that are experiencing fiscal success are genuinely unhappy about their career, being forced day in and day out to collect that cheque at the end of the month.
At 30 I find the positivity of growth, i cannot be lied to and accept it, I see me wanting less money replacing it with wanting genuine happiness. That happiness means having a balance of all elements. Love on it's own is not enough, wealth alone not entirely satisfying without someone to share, the friendships not enough without the history that has shaped and moulded you to the friend you are and the friends you receive.
They say that life begins at.... and immediately you know that whoever is saying that is probably insecure about the age they are in, but maybe not...maybe with age you do really enjoy life more. I personally feel that I am able to be true to my wishes stick by my resolutions, like the fact that I want to look good and feel health and then DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT CONSISTENTLY !
Its important to take some time to ask and consider if you growing up or just growing older. You will know that you are merely growing older if u still have same challenges that you had previously, you still make the same mistakes, you insulted and offended by the same things as you were when younger.
You see growing up for me is developing a new perspective or way of thinking. I now feel so good after each work out I can virtually feel the fat melting away, and the gain of muscle tone, and underneath it a beautiful girl. I don't want to stop, I won't stop doing what it takes to get me there.
It make me wonder if its true that life does indeed get better with age, and as I become of age, could I have found my true self in my 30s?I am becoming a destiny fullfilled
